Rietveld crystal structure refinement of a natural rhombohedral grossular-andradite garnet from Serbia
Pavle Tančić, Aleksandar Kremenović (2022)Four macroscopically visible B–E (rim) zones, within a large natural ferric grossular garnet of Grs58–64Adr36–42 Sps2 composition, are described by means of Rietveld refinements of the crystal structures in a series of six space groups, followed by com parative analysis of the R-values, site occupancy factors, and bond lengths and angles. The garnet crystallized in the rhombohedral R63c space group. Various polyhedral distortions and structural or derdis or dervariations between the zones studied are also described and discussed. Burnishing Versus Smoothing In Ceramic Surface Finishing: A Sem Study
From the Neolithic up to the present, people have used various methods to improve the surface of ceramic objects. In this study, we look specifically at smoothing and pattern burnishing of ceramics produced today by traditional methods. Optical microscopy and SEM show specific surface changes. Smoothing results in an irregular surface, which causes diffused reflection of light. Burnishing produces an even and compact surface, which causes specular reflection and lustre. The results can be used to infer methods of ...Ionescu Corina, Volker Hoeck, Crandell Otis N., Šarić Kristina. Fault type assessment based on vertical gravity gradient anomalies – advantages and limitations
The type of dip-slip faults can be assessed based on the analysis of vertical gravity gradients. Theoretically, just a simple comparation of the gradient extreme values can give us an answer whether the fault is normal or reverse (thrust). Practical application of this method is far more complicated and the results depend on a number of parameters, such as a complexity of geological setting, the quality of gravity data, dip angle and displacement of the fault, density contrast, etc. ...... fault type determination. Palaeoflora of Kamenica (Pranjani Basin, western Serbia)
Palaeofloras of the Paleogene in Serbia are relatively rare, especially in comparison with floras from Neogene sediments. Most Paleogene phytoas sociations from the territory of Serbia existed in a dry and warm climate.
