Ugljevi niskog ranga – ligniti u Republici Srbiji predstavljaju glavnu energetsku sirovinu koja se koristi za proizvodnju električne energije. Rudarstvo u Srbiji doprinosi bruto dodatoj vrednosti sa 1,8% (2020; https://publikacije.stat.gov.rs/).
