Dating of alluvial sediments from borehole at the lower course of the Sava river and indications of the connection between their genesis and climate changes in the Pleistocene
David Mitrinović, Jelena Zarić, Oliver Anđelković, Gyorgy Sipos, Dušan Polomčić, Milan Dimkić (2019)This paper analyses the way in which Pleistocene climate change and glaciations in Dinaric Mountains was reflected in the deposition of alluvial sediments in the Sava river Valley, using a case study of Belgrade Groundwater Source (BGS), the largest and most downstream alluvial water supply source along the Sava river. A stratigraphic analysis of the Quaternary sediments from two boreholes on this site, based on sediment dating, lithological members identification, grain size distribution analysis was performed. Speleo‐morphology and tectonic processes – What can be seen in slowly deforming regions?
Ana Mladenović, Jelena Ćalić (2022)There are a lot of methods used to determine tectonic process active in a region, and they vary depending on the purpose of the research. However, a number of them cannot be used in slowly deforming regions, because the effects of active tectonic process on the rocks in such regions could be negligible. This is especially true for the recently active tectonics in such regions, since most of the recently active tectonic structures never reach the surface. Because of ...Ana Mladenović, Jelena Ćalić. Connections between the Levant and the Balkans in the late Middle Pleistocene: Archaeological findings from Velika and Mala Balanica Caves (Serbia)

Rink, Senka Plavšić, Mirjana Roksandić (2022)Major changes in the technological, economic, and social behavior of Middle Pleistocene hominins occurred at the onset of the Middle Paleolithic, 400e200 ka. However, until recently it was not possible to establish when, where, and how certain forms of Middle Paleolithic behavior appeared and spread into Southeastern Europe, mainly owing to gaps in the Paleolithic record. Here we report new results of dating, material culture, and the archaeological context of finds from the Balanica Cave Complex in Sicevo (Serbia). ...Dušan Mihailović, Steven L. Determining seismic hazard in slowly deforming region: Can we gather enough information from karst caves?
Ana Mladenović, Jelena Ćalić (2021)Methods to determine seismic hazard in any region vary depending on the regional seismicity, but can be roughly grouped into two main groups: one based on probabilistic methods that use data about known seismicity in the region, and another, which is based on data related to the faulting processes and determination of seismically active faults. Both groups of methods are relatively good for seismically active regions. However, in regions of low seismic activity and slow deformations, there is neither ...Ana Mladenović, Jelena Ćalić. Anisotropic grossular–andradite garnets: Evidence of two stage skarn evolution from Rudnik, Central Serbia
This paper presents LA-ICP-MS data for garnets from the Rudnik skarn deposit (Serbia), which range from Grs45–58Adr40–52Alm2–3 in the core and Adr70–97Grs2–29Sps1 in the rim displaying anisotropy and zoning. In spite of wide compositional variations the garnets near the end-member of andradite (Adr > 90) are generally isotropic. Fe-rich rims exhibit LREE depletion and flat HREE pattern with weak negative Eu anomaly, including higher As and W contents. On the other side, the Fe-poorer core shows flat REE pattern ...... highlighted the evolution of the hydrothermal sys- tem.
