The Flow Conditions in the Epikarst Zone of a Karst Aquifer. Case Study: Suva planina Mt., East Serbia
Branislav Petrović (2023)The epikarst as a part of the karst aquifer represents a complex point of contact and mixing of unconsolidated material from the terrain surface, carbonate rocks altered by “corrosive” water, flora and fauna (and remains of), which is partially saturated with groundwater. Significant amounts of (plant accessible) water, and other solutes and particles, can be stored in this zone for extended periods of time. Thus, attenuation or biochemical processes could start in this layer and change quality of infiltrated ...Branislav Petrović. "The Flow Conditions in the Epikarst Zone of a Karst Aquifer. Pleistocene rhinoceros from Bogovina Cave: the first report of Stephanorhinus hundsheimensis Toula, 1902 (Mammalia, Rhinocerotidae) from Serbia
Finds of Pleistocene rhinoceros are rare in Serbia, and only one species (the woolly rhinoceros Coelodonta antiquitatis Blumenbach, 1799) has been reported so far. The current paper presents the dental material of an extinct so-called Hundsheim rhinoceros, Stephanorhinus hundsheimensis Toula, 1902 from Bogovina Cave (East ern Serbia). Both the morphological and metric characteristics of the teeth are consis tent with the attribution to S. hundsheimensis. Unfortunately, the rhinoceros material originated from an uncertain geological context, so there is no ...Predrag Radović, Miloš Radonjić, Emmanuel Billia. New paleoecological perspectives on Late Pleistocene Neanderthals in northern Balkans: the rodent assemblages from Smolućka cave (Serbia)
Mihailo Jovanović, Katarina Bogićević, Draženko Nenadić, Jordi Agustí,·Christian Sánchez Bandera, Juan Manuel López García, Hugues Alexandre Blain (2022)During the Late Pleistocene, the Balkans came to be an important region with many isolated areas, enabling fauna, alongside Neanderthals, to thrive in the area. This work is focused on paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic changes that occurred in the northern Balkan Peninsula with a special focus on fossil record from Smolućka cave aging from MIS 5 to MIS 3. Based on available data, an attempt has been made to establish a synthetic chronological context for the faunal assemblages recovered from ...Mihailo Jovanović, Katarina Bogićević, Draženko Nenadić, Jordi Agustí,·Christian Sánchez Bandera, Juan Manuel López García, Hugues Alexandre Blain. Neandertalci i rani gornjopaleolitski ljudi živeli su u veoma raznovrsnom refugijumu, ...Juan Ochando, Jose S. Carrion, Donatella Magri, Ana B. Systematic excavations of Velika and Mala Balanica, and Peˇsturina (southern Serbia) revealed assemblages of Middle Paleolithic artifacts associated with hominin fossils and animal bones. This paper focuses on Pesturina Layer 4, radiometrically and biostratigraphically dated to Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 5, which yielded traces of temporary hunting camps. First insights into the Mesolithic settlement of Southern Serbia - Excavation of the Pešterija Cave in the Ponišavlje Region

Specific electrical conductivity in epikarst groundwater of the eastern Suva Planina mt.
Branislav Petrović (2022)The epikarst is a part of the karst outcrop that is located within the unsaturated zone and represents a complex point of contact and mixing of unconsolidated material from the terrain surface. The correct and complete perception of epikarst, its degree of development and the presence on the limestone terrain can be achieved with a multidisciplinary approach. The study area for the applied multidisciplinary research was the Eastern part of karst massif Suva Planina Mt. One important part of ...Branislav Petrović. Geomorfološke posledice poplava 2014. godine u karstu Dževrinske grede (istočna Srbija)
The year 2014 was the year of extremely large floods in Serbia. The territories of municipalities Kladovo and Negotin, along the Danube course in Eastern Serbia, were among the worst affected, mostly by flash floods. The karst ridge of Dževrinska Greda, a typical contact karst and stripe karst environment formed within Upper Jurassic limestones, suffered significant morphological changes in terms of heavy washout of sediments on one hand (in fluviokarstic gorges and active cave passages), and on the other ...Jelena Ćalić, Dejan Jeremić, Ana Mladenović.
